The locals tell us that Ibiza enjoys especially moderate weather due to mountains in Spain that block out much of the cold. That certainly seems true this year. Today we had our first spring thunderstorm. With the temperature at 17 degrees Celsius, we were happy to be wet and warm. The temperatures across the Mediterranean were only one or two degrees higher than usual over the last year. But we seem to be getting more than our share of tropical days.

Ibiza boasts one of the driest climates in Europe, so we have become accustomed to warm, sunny days and bright sunshine. But in September our sleepy island transformed into Seattle on the Mediterranean. We enjoyed three straight weeks of rain, along with massive thunder boomers. For those of us who love rain, this is heaven. Then November surprised us all with warm tropical weather. Each day our team heads off to the beach as the tourists scurry for the cover of cafes and hotels. The water is clear and warm. And its nice to have the sea to ourselves for a few hours. Our first event on the new San Miguel campus was everything we hoped for, and more. It was a joy to train corporate leaders in a spacious classroom, located on a beautiful bay, nestled between gorgeous mountains on the North Shore of Ibiza. The views are stunning, and the water is warm and inviting, as are the people. Our students get special rates for an apartment between 30 - 116 Euros per night (depending on the season). Each flat holds two people comfortably, and has room for a third on the couch when budgets are important. Click here to read the the whole edition (pdf).

Old Man Winter never really made it to Ibiza this year. We had a couple of chilly nights and a bit of rain. Otherwise the days remained unseasonably warm and sunny. No one is complaining. And now, with almond trees blooming and orange trees hanging with ripe fruit, one get the feeling of new birth. Likewise in the economy, capitalized projects are dying, real estate is falling, and fresh new buds are appearing in the form of entrepreneurial projects. Newsletter - December 08

It's official. Early winter has arrived in the Balearics. the temperature is chilly - between 10 and 15 degrees, and we have had some rain. But here comes the sun. These islands are famous for the amazing quality of light that paints the sky with panoramic vistas. This light sets the soul on fire. The holidays are upon us, too, as evidenced by the bright lights that adorn every street in our tiny village of Santa Eulalia. Colorful lights shine out from the shops and people bustel through the streets in preparation for this sacred time. Click here to read the whole December edition (pdf).

    Newsletter - November 08

As autumn turns to winter, most of the Northern hemisphere bundles up and moves activities inside where it is warm. But November is one of our sunny months on the Pine Islands. Nature appears to burst forth to fill the void of busy people. The tourists are gone, the streets are quiet, and one has the promande for solitude. There are no heads bobbing in the chilly waters, except those of our intrepid team. We plan to swim daily right up until Saturnalia (that would be Christmas for some, and Hanukah for others). The days are warm and the nights are cool on Ibiza right now. A massive storm over Marocco pushed the warm water north. Our team braved a terrifying ferry ride through rough seas. But now all is calm, so visitors remain on the beaches, and you can still see heads bobbing in the surf. Forecasts indicate a long continuation of this seeminlgy endless summer. This is the kind of tee shirt weater you dream about. Soft sunshine and gentle breezes soothe the spirit. The water is unseasonably warm. Click here to read the whole October edition (pdf).

    Newsletter - September 08

Some of you who spent the summer by the sea told us that you discovered a whole new life in the water. A few became so comfortable in deep water that they took long swims far from the beaches, until the ocean began to seem like a second home. That might be due to a little known quirk in our evolution. Humans are the only bipeds that gather on beaches and swim out into the frothy waves. Our furry jungle cousins avoid the sun and surf. They cannot swim, float, or hold their breath. Creating a new life isn't as easy as moving off to a perfect Mediterranean Island and spending your days on the beach. No matter how far you run, you can never get away from you. Our cultures have been constructing our mental version of reality since we were old enough to understand language. Words set us up to embrace worry. Arguments lock us into our own mind. The waters of the Mediterranean are getting warmer by the day, as you can see from the suddenly crowded beaches and the bustling promenade. Our extremely white-skinned visitors, in their shorts and sandals (mostly Germans and Brits), seem delighted to have escaped the frigid winter in search of major heat. Where is global warming when you need it, anyway? Each time you immerse yourself in the warm waves of the Great Mother ocean, you emerge into a new world. Were those buildings here before? How did the sky just get so blue? Click here to read the whole June edition (pdf).

With its mild climate and long hours of dazzling sunshine, Ibiza invites you to enjoy the special island with charming beautiful landscape, gorgeous seascapes and lovely, tolerant people. Our island paradise has become a melting pot, with over 12,000 non-Spanish residents out of a total population of around 50,000 people. That means that every fourth resident of Evissa was born somewhere other than Spain. Most of the newcomers are from South America, but we also have our share of British, German, and Italian people.
